DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A BEEPER

This project presents the designing and construction of a beeper. A beeper is a portable device that makes a beeping noise, usually to tell you to phone someone or to remind you to do something. His beeper sounded and he picked up the telephone. Beepers are also used to as a security device to detect when abnormal thing happened.

ABSTRACT
This project presents the designing and construction of a beeper. A beeper is a portable device that makes a beeping noise, usually to tell you to phone someone or to remind you to do something. His beeper sounded and he picked up the telephone. Beepers are also used to as a security device to detect when abnormal thing happened.

This work is aimed at designing a circuit that will generate a beeping sound that can be used for security device or a reminder.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                          INTRODUCTION

1.1                            BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Beeper, is a small, low-powered device that alerts the person carrying it when something is about to happen. The beeper utilizes electronic components which will beep or otherwise sound, flash, or vibrate to alert its carrier. Originally only used by doctors and certain businesspersons to notify them of an event, it is also used in most electronics to alert the user when some abnormal things happened. In a prepaid meter, beeper is used to alert the occupant of the house when a account balance is low. In multimeter, beeper is used to alert the user when an error measurement occurred. Beepers have become more common in the last two decades. By 1992, an estimated 2.9 million people in the U.S. alone carried beepers, and the number of users worldwide was much larger.

1.2                                                  PROBLEM STATEMENT

Often time people forget invents or appointment even signs that can expose them to danger. Beeper circuit help to remind the user of their events or alert them of dangers or when something is about to happen.

1.3                                             OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The main aim of this work is to build a circuit that will generate a continuous beep-beep sound signal with flashing an LED

1.4                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

Someone can use this simple beeping circuit with any of your electronic project or appliance in which you want the beep-beep sound signal.

1.5                                          APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT

This device can be used in devices such as:

  1. Phone
  2. Clock
  • Measuring instrument such as multimeter
  1. scooter or vehicle as a sidelight indicator
  2. Also in prepaid meter, etc.

1.6                                         METHODOLOGY

To achieve the aim and objectives of this work, the following are the steps involved:

  1. Study of the previous work on the project so as to improve it efficiency.
  2. Draw a block diagram.
  • Test for continuity of components and devices,
  1. Studying of various component used in circuit.
  2. Construct a beeper circuit.
  3. Finally, the whole device was cased and final test was carried out.

1.7                                                         PROJECT ORGANISATION

The work is organized as follows: chapter one discuses the introductory part of the work, chapter two presents the literature review of the study, chapter three describes the methods applied, chapter four discusses the results of the work, chapter five summarizes the research outcomes and the recommendations.
